- Organisation and implementation of an annual European Union Prize for Literature
This prize aims to put the spotlight on the wealth of contemporary literature (fiction) created in Europe.
The aim of this call for proposals is to select a body capable of organising the award of a European Union prize for literature in 2008. This body could also be in charge of the subsequent prizes (2009 to 2013), on an annual basis, with the explicit agreement of the European Commission.
Applications for organising the 2008 prize must reach the Commission by 12 October 2007 at the latest.

(Selection 2007).
- Fully operational from the 1st of January 2006, the Executive Agency
The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Agency Executive Agency (EACEA) is responsible for the management of certain parts of the EU's programmes in the fields of education, culture and audiovisual. Fully operational from the 1st of January 2006, the Executive Agency operates under supervision from its two parent Directorates-General: DG Education and Culture (EAC) and DG Information Society and Media (INFSO).

On 13 November 2006, the Council held an exchange of views on the economy of culture in Europe, based on a study prepared for the Commission by KEA European Affairs, made available in October.
